Tender chicken breasts simmered in a rich, garlicky cream sauce with lemon and herbs. This dish pairs beautifully with barley, roasted Brussels sprouts, or mashed potatoes.
Servings: 4 | Prep Time: 10 min | Cook Time: 25 min | Total Time: 35 min

Ingredients
Chicken & Sauce
2 chicken breasts (halved horizontally for 4 thin cutlets)
1 whole garlic bulb (8–10 cloves, minced or pressed)
1 lemon (zested and halved)
¾ cup heavy cream
1 tsp Better Than Bouillon chicken base (or substitute 1 cup chicken broth)
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp butter,
¼ cup all-purpose flour
Seasonings
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 tsp garlic powder (divided)
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp dried basil
2 tsp dried parsley
Garnish
Fresh chives, chopped (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Chicken
Slice each chicken breast in half horizontally to create 4 thin cutlets.
In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, 2 tsp garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, and basil.
Season both sides of each cutlet with the seasoning mix, then lightly coat in flour.
2. Sear the Chicken
Heat a 12-inch skillet (preferably stainless steel) over medium heat.
Add olive oil and, once hot, place chicken in the pan.
Sear for about 3 minutes per side, until golden and the internal temperature reaches 155°F (69°C). (Chicken will come to temp while it rests)
Remove chicken and set aside.
3. Build the Sauce
In the same skillet, add 1 Tbsp butter and the minced garlic.
Sauté for 1–1½ minutes, until fragrant but not browned.
Stir in the chicken broth to deglaze, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine.
Add the remaining 2 tsp garlic powder, lemon zest, and dried parsley.
Simmer over medium to medium-high heat for about 15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens — it should coat the back of a spoon and a spatula dragged through should leave a visible trail.
4. Finish & Serve
Reduce heat to low and return the chicken to the pan, coating it well with the sauce.
Squeeze in the juice from ½ lemon, adjusting to taste.
Garnish with fresh chives and serve immediately.
